The Claude Lalanne Federation

The "Fédération Claude Lalanne" is a transdisciplinary research structure devoted to ionizing radiations and their applications in cancer radiotherapy at Université Côte d'Azur

It has been established at Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) in december, 2017.

This federation brings together around the Centre Antoine Lacassagne (CAL) - the Nice cancer center -  academic research laboratories of UCA in medicine, biology and life sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, signal, image and data processing as well as the University Hospital (CHU) of Nice. It aims at stimulating original synergies by harnessing the full range of disciplinary expertise offered within UCA and structuring them into cross-cutting projects benefiting to research in radiotherapy.

The partner research units are: Institut de Recherche sur le Cancer et le vieillissement (IRCAN), laboratoire Transporteurs et Imagerie en Radiothérapie et Oncologie (TIRO), Unité de Pharmacogénétique et de Radiogénétique des Cancers (UPRC), Institut de Physique de Nice (INPHYNI), centre de Recherche sur l'Hétéroépitaxie et ses applications (CRHEA), Institut de Chimie de Nice (ICN), Laboratoire de mathématiques Jean-Alexandre Dieudonné (JAD), INRIA Sophia Antipolis Méditerranée, Institut de Biologie de Valrose (IBV), Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur (OCA), Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (University Hospital) of Nice (CHU) and Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace of Monaco (CHPG).

The research projects supported by the Federation are built along 5 structuring focuses (see below). Each of them is led by a steering couple comprising a doctor (radiation therapist) or a medical physicist from CAL and a researcher or teacher-researcher from a partner research unit.

1 -   Sensors and accelerators: Joël Hérault (CAL), Wilfried Blanc (INPHYNI)

2 -   Imaging and positioning: Pierre-Yves Bondiau (CAL), Nicholas Ayache (INRIA)

3 -   Dose calculation: Marie Vidal (CAL), Franck Mady (INPHYNI)

4 -   Interactions between radiations and living matterJérôme Doyen (CAL), Béatrice Cambien (TIRO)

5 -   Clinical research and modeling in radiotherapy: Jean-Michel Hannoun-Levi (CAL), Thierry Goudon (JAD)
